“Whoosh!”

The air in the death realm was anything but fresh, carrying a faint stench of decay.

Then…

Fang Heng looked around.

The entire death realm was shrouded in a thin layer of white fog.

This fog obscured visibility and significantly hindered perception.

Noticing something, Fang Heng frowned and flipped his wrist, summoning the great holy sword into his palm.

Whoosh!!!

With a powerful swing, he sent the great holy sword forward.

“Buzz…!”

A golden wave of energy spread out, pushing through the thick fog.

“Bang! Bang bang!!!”

The white fog erupted with explosive sounds.

Vengeful spirits!

Numerous vengeful spirits drifted in the dense mist.

His initial strike had only dealt with a small portion of them.

Stimulated by the holy ripple, even more vengeful spirits surged from the fog, drawn toward Fang Heng.

“We’ve explored most of the death realm, and it’s always like this. These vengeful spirits just can’t be entirely cleansed. Every time we clear one area, more emerge.”

The three undead instructors stepped out of the underground passage and positioned themselves beside Fang Heng.

“When we first entered the death realm, it was just like this. We wandered through the white fog until we stumbled upon an area where the mist was thinner,” one instructor began.

“Eventually, we discovered that this region happened to be the mausoleum of Empress Persephone,” another continued.

“After discussions in the undead council, it was decided to establish a permanent teleportation passage around the perimeter of the Empress’s mausoleum and begin exploring it,” a third instructor added.

“Time has flown by, in the blink of an eye, thousands of years have passed,” they said with a hint of nostalgia.

With another blink, the mausoleum had collapsed.

“Fang Heng, we’ll take care of things from here. We’ll focus on upgrading the magic array so that the teleportation passage can function smoothly,” one of them assured him.

“Alright.”

Fang Heng agreed, considering his options.

He could set up a magic array to summon Abe Akaya and rely on its strength to leave this place.

However, he thought twice and realized there was no rush. Summoning Abe Akaya in the death realm would significantly deplete its stored energy.

If he could save that energy, he might as well follow the undead council for now. This was a good opportunity to further explore the death realm.

He figured he might even attempt to undertake the mission of rebuilding Empress Persephone’s influence, looking for a chance to gain some benefits.

“Teachers, I’d like to explore the death realm,” he said.

The three instructors paused, instinctively wanting to object, but after a moment’s thought, they held back. The images from the projection were still fresh in their minds.

In this environment and state, even their combined strength wouldn’t match Fang Heng’s.

“Alright, but be very careful. The thick fog in the death realm can obscure some perceptions, so keep the stone slab on you to avoid any accidents.”

“Yeah, I won’t go far,” Fang Heng replied. He randomly chose a direction, transformed into bat form, and flew into the air, quickly disappearing into the mist.

Huh?

The instructors watched as Fang Heng skillfully switched forms in the death realm, their eyes filled with surprise.

How could he manage to do this so easily under the aura of the death realm?

The upper echelons of the undead council, who had been observing Fang Heng from all angles through the projection mirror, were equally surprised.

Wow, Fang Heng possessed such a unique ability for rapid movement in the death realm?

The entire undead faction lacked this capability, which had previously limited their exploration to the area around Empress Persephone’s mausoleum.

They never expected Fang Heng would have such an ability.

If that was the case…

With Fang Heng’s assistance, their exploration of the death realm could proceed much faster than they had anticipated.

In the real world, atop a skyscraper in the city center, Xia Xi stood on the rooftop, her gaze fixed on the towering Library of the Myriad Worlds.

“Sir, we have news. Our investigation shows that Fang Heng is currently safe and exploring the death realm.”

“The death realm…”

Xia Xi murmured, a cold glint appearing in her eyes.

The power of Empress Persephone, the ruler of the death realm…

It was truly enviable!

Xia Xi recalled that the one chosen to pursue that power was…

Mu Qingxin.

But they hadn’t heard from her in a long time.

Her subordinate asked, “Master, the death realm is extremely dangerous. Should we find a way to investigate?”

“That’s Mu Qingxin’s territory.”

“Could Mu Qingxin pose a threat to Fang Heng?” the subordinate pondered aloud. “She fused with the power of the death realm, rapidly enhancing her strength. By now, she must be in a higher cultivation stage. If she discovers Fang Heng…”

“There is indeed that possibility,” Xia Xi acknowledged.

“Sir…” The subordinate noticed Xia Xi’s lack of immediate action and hesitated before continuing, “We’ve invested so much in him. If anything were to happen… should we intervene?”

“No need. Survival of the fittest,” Xia Xi replied, her eyes still fixed on the building where Fang Heng was located. “This is a trial for him. If he cannot overcome this challenge, he’ll have no one to blame but himself for becoming someone else’s nourishment.”

“Whoever ultimately wins, we will act according to the rules, and everything will once again fall under our control.”

“Yes, and there are also movements from Bessie. She has made sufficient preparations in the Holy Realm and is confident in taking it with one decisive strike.”

“Ah, is that so? Let them fight it out for now.”

“The selection of a leader is a long and arduous competition. Let them run a few laps for now; the real race hasn’t even begun. I have great confidence in my judgment…”

In bat form, Fang Heng darted through the death realm at high speed.

The death realm was a treacherous domain; not only was he losing health constantly, but the thick fog also made it difficult to discern direction.

The vengeful spirits that emerged from the mist posed an even greater threat. If he attacked one, it would only provoke more spirits to come after him.

Fang Heng had now reached Level 50, and defeating normal vengeful spirits offered no worthwhile rewards.

So, he chose to simply tank the attacks from the spirits!

With the benefits of his undead form, Fang Heng soared through the layers of vengeful spirits in bat form.

After flying continuously for over two hours, the fog ahead thickened, and the decayed ground began to show signs of undead creatures.

Curious, Fang Heng descended, shifting back into human form to observe from a distance.

It was a skeletal creature!

Scattered across the rotten terrain, the skeletal beings were slowly congregating in the distance.

Suddenly, the stone slab in his hand began to warm slightly.

Fang Heng opened it to check.

The undead council had been monitoring his situation from afar.

They too had spotted the undead creatures in the death realm and promptly sent a message to inform him of the circumstances.
